Some stories say that Parrots brought "color" into the world. Others speak of Parrot being a "watch dog" for the Native People, alerting them to impending danger with their loud squawks! (Another story claims that parrots alerted the People to a horrible fire, which saved many lives. When the smoke cleared, all of the Parrots were covered in soot and thus was the beginning of the Black Bird!) This highly polished buckle by Hopi Silversmith, Weaver Selina features this lovely bird in flight. It carries prayer feathers in its beak and next to its body. Weather symbols make up the body and wing. It measures 2 by 3 inches and will accommodate up to a 1 1/2 inch belt. Weaver's hallmark, the Rising Sun is stamped on the reverse side.
